We've seen hundred of people catching their Pokémons in the street, some are still playing days and nights. The Pokémon Go, a free augmented reality smartphone game, was one of the most incredible smartphone crazes of 2016: you collect virtual pokémon in the real world and battle them. Far from our favorite childhood's animation cartoon series, Pokémon became reality.
Niantic, "Pokémon Go" development studio doesn't want to stop- it has released periodic updates: new pokémon, ability to set a buddy Pokémon, and timed events around real-world events like Halloween.
Its revenue has now reached $1 billion: which it the fastest success ever known for an app.
The app is free but players can buy additional items through in-app purchases. In July 2016, it made a revenue of $18 million in a day (Souce (c): Sensor Tower). The trend isn't dissipated and the daily revenue nets between $1.5 / 2.5 million per day.
